Choosing Books for Independent Reading!

Independent Reading is a fun way to read and explore books that are around a child's appropriate reading level. Throughout the year, the students will select books in which they are "comfortably challenged", meaning they will come across words that might be new; however, they will be able to use the "tools of a good reader" for help. The "tool" our class is focusing on now is "Looking at the pictures". Looking at pictures in a book gives the reader information and helps them as they try to solve an unknown word.

Take a look at the friends on Island 2 as they select and enjoy books during Readers Workshop!
