Our Trip to The Greenhouse!!

We are so lucky to have such a great partnership with Rockaway Gardens.  It is amazing how far the greenhouse area has come in just a year!  Our class was able to visit the beautiful area last Thursday.  Miss Trish was an awesome guide as we explored the garden, greenhouse and courtyard.  We had the chance to learn about the parts of a plant. We even got to plant our own class plant out in the newly rejuvenated courtyard!  What a fun time we had!!

Miss Trish was very informative! She sure does know a lot about plants!

Look at the mini-Christmas trees! How cute!

Miss Trish got the area for our plant all ready to go!

We got to pull some weeds in the courtyard!! See ya later little weeds!

2D Shapes!

The boys and girls on Island 2 are having fun learning about 2D shapes.  They are able to talk about the attribute of shapes.  They have a blast "spying" shapes as real world objects as we explore the classroom and school.  Take a look at a few students as they use pattern blocks to create different shapes!!

Emma used squares to build a rectangle!

Our cute new friend Trinity was busy using many different shapes to create certain objects!
Eduardo was very proud of the rectangle he made with two squares.
Look at all of those hexagons Jackson created using triangles and trapezoids!!

Red Ribbon Week!

Seabreeze will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week October 22-25. Red Ribbon Week began after police officer Kiki Camarena was killed by drug traffickers in Mexico City in 1985. As a way to recognize the officer’s commitment to a drug-free America, people began wearing red ribbons to show their intolerance towards the use of drugs. Schools across America celebrate Red Ribbon Week in October each year with activities planned to show their students’ commitment to a drug-free lifestyle. We will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week at Seabreeze with the following activities:

- Monday October 22: Wear Red Day. Wear as much red as you can to show your support of a drug-free lifestyle!

-Tuesday October 23:
“Born to Be Drug-Free” Day.  Bring in a baby picture to display on the “Born to Be Drug Free” bulletin board located by the cafeteria.  Stop by the bulletin board before school or give your baby picture to your teacher.  Photos should not be originals and cannot be returned.*

-Wednesday October 24:
“Drugs are Unbearable” Day.  Bring your favorite teddy bear to school to show your commitment to healthy choices.

-Thursday October 25:
“Don’t Get Mixed Up With Drugs” Day.  Wear mix-matched clothing to display your dedication to staying drug-free.
